mayii is a WiseBite product. This Privacy Policy applies to the mayii mobile application and related services operated by WiseBite.

WiseBite operates from Queensland, Australia. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share and protect your personal information when you use the mayii mobile application and related services.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information:

• Account information — email address, display name, and authentication credentials
• Profile information — dietary preferences, allergens, health goals you voluntarily provide
• Scan history — barcodes scanned, products viewed, scores generated
• Favourites — products you save via the Heart feature
• User feedback — product ratings (trophy/trash) you submit
• Label scan images — photos you take of product labels for AI extraction
• Device information — device type, operating system, app version, device identifiers
• Usage analytics — app interactions, feature usage, session data
• Communications — any messages you send us

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Operate and deliver the mayii service
• Personalise your experience based on your dietary preferences and goals
• Generate AI-powered product insights tailored to your profile
• Improve our scoring engine and data quality
• Maintain security and prevent fraud
• Send service-related communications (not marketing without consent)
• Comply with legal obligations
• Conduct anonymised research and analytics to improve food transparency

3. AI and Automated Features

mayii uses AI systems including Google Gemini to analyse product data and generate personalised insights. These outputs are:

• Automated opinions generated from available product data
• May be incomplete, inaccurate or based on partial information
• Not a substitute for professional medical or nutritional advice

Users with serious health conditions, allergies or specific dietary needs should independently verify all product information and consult a qualified health professional.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored using industry-standard cloud infrastructure including:

• Supabase (database and file storage) — servers located in Sydney, Australia
• Vercel (application hosting) — servers located in the United States
• Google Cloud (AI processing via Gemini) — servers located in the United States
• Expo/EAS (mobile build and distribution services)

We implement reasonable technical and organisational safeguards including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Overseas Disclosure

As noted above, your personal information may be stored and processed on servers located in Australia and the United States. By using mayii you consent to this overseas disclosure. We take reasonable steps to ensure our overseas providers handle your information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles.

6. Third Party Services

We use the following third-party service providers who may process your data on our behalf:

• Supabase — database, authentication and file storage
• Vercel — application hosting and deployment
• Google (Gemini AI) — AI-powered product insight generation
• Open Food Facts — public food product database (no personal data shared)
• RevenueCat — subscription and payment management
• Expo — mobile application build and distribution
• Resend — transactional email delivery
• Upstash — rate limiting and job scheduling (limited transient metadata only)

These providers are bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements.

7. Children's Privacy

mayii is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@wisebite.app and we will delete it promptly.

8. Marketing Communications

We will only send you marketing or newsletter communications if you have explicitly opted in. You may withdraw consent at any time by:

• Updating your preferences in the app settings
• Clicking unsubscribe in any marketing email

9. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Specifically:

• Account data — retained until you delete your account
• Scan history and favourites — retained until you delete your account or request deletion
• Label scan images — retained until admin review is complete, typically within 30 days
• Analytics data — retained in anonymised form indefinitely
• Legal compliance data — retained as required by applicable law

10. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to:

• Access your personal information
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
• Delete your personal information and account
• Complain about how we handle your information

To delete your account: Go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account in the mayii app. Your account and associated personal data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

To make a privacy request: Email us at privacy@wisebite.io with your request. We will respond within 30 days.

11. Complaints

If you have a complaint about how we handle your personal information, please contact us first at privacy@wisebite.io. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

12. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia and the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of mayii after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. The effective date at the top of this policy reflects the most recent update.
